Walking Our Talk:
The Power & Possibilities of Building Diversity in Our Field

“I have not felt the strength of connection to an idea or a group
as I did last Thursday for quite some time.  I appreciated how we
appreciated and supported the stories and needs which surfaced during the morning.
I wonder where we could have journeyed in a second, afternoon session?”
–Lenny Diamond, Global Facilitator Service Corps

(Comments after attending the cohort’s concurrent session at the 2010 IAF Conference)

We’ve talked for years about welcoming diversity in our profession but have not nearly achieved our goal of representing the many constituency groups of this continent. Notably absent are young adults and people of color. Learn about one grass roots collaborative model from Portland, Oregon where we are in our 3rd year of a co-learning/co-mentoring cohort representing experience, age, ethnicity, and gender diversity. Interact with members of the cohort, share stories of our passion to change the world, be inspired, and learn about strategies for bringing diversity, richness and new leaders into the field, and what to consider in welcoming more under-represented colleagues/diversity into your own life and practice.

Watch this cohort present at the upcoming IAF North American Conference April 15, 2011!
