Difficult Behaviors

Working with Reluctant, Hesitant or Dominant Participants

One of the most frequently asked questions I receive as a professional facilitator is how to deal with “difficult people”. There are probably no easy answers or recipes for dealing with the behaviors that perplex you the most. Rather, it is a combination of your facilitator skill and your stance that will alleviate or minimize any particular behavior. The good news is that there are only two behaviors that people find most perplexing. They are when group members either over or under participate. In this learning module, we’ll specifically address leader or facilitator strategies to effectively reduce the disruption and/or challenge of a variety of these behaviors.
