Participants and groups’ behaviors may seem “difficult” when their needs are not being met or their values are being threatened. In this handout, we explore the Non-Violent Communication (NVC) model, developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, to develop skillful language when dealing with annoying or irritating behaviors in groups and ten tips to ensure difficult participants don’t undermine your ability to help the group.
