How can we help ourselves and groups face change and deal with the difficulties that change encompasses? Gary Austin created an excellent change model that individuals and groups can reference to make sense of the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that they experience as they go through change. Leaders, facilitators and mediators will find this model particularly useful in helping their groups successfully weather the transition period. The handout also includes what to expect in each of the four phases of change and a range of tools and strategies that can be used in each phase.
