Gaining Clarity And Meaning For Your Life In 3 Hours

PATH-Banner2

Ever wanted a very powerful, quick jumpstart on the next few years of your life?  One process I talked about briefly in my blog in December 2014 was the graphic facilitated P.A.T.H. process. PATH stands for Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope. It was developed by a Canadian group including Marsha Forest, Jack Pierpont and John O’Brien in the 1980’s.  It is done as a 2-4 hour process for individuals or groups. It takes them creatively but systematically through a lovely, deep yet highly productive facilitated process for creating clarity and meaning in their lives/organizations.

This year, we thought of a way to help you have your P.A.T.H. done from anywhere in the world! We offer one-on-one virtual sessions at a time convenient to you and me! See more details at the bottom of this blog.  Please note in this blog that we are focusing on the P.A.T.H. for individuals but if you have a group that needs this process, we’d also be delighted to help.  Please email us to inquire.

Why bother having a P.A.T.H.? My experience of it…

IMG_2273In the video, we show you my very first P.A.T.H. from 1997! And I’ve had four more P.A.T.H.s done since then. I ask someone to facilitate one for me about every 3-5 years to give me new direction and sustained momentum.  Each time I have been astounded at what emerges for me during the P.A.T.H. process. It is “crazy” (i.e. astonishing)! For example, when I first moved to the USA and was trying to start my business again at the height of a horrible recession, I visualized in my P.A.T.H. of 2002 that I would be spending a lot of time in Asia and South America. I was puzzled by this because I had never traveled to either place and did not consciously realize I had any desire or connection to go to either continent.  My daughter subsequently moved to Brazil in 2010 for a while and I ended up going to Brazil multiple times, studying Ayurveda and about the five elements there with one of her amazing teachers, Komala Lyre.  In 2012, I then co-developed a deeply meaningful facilitation course on the Five Elements of Facilitation Design. I had been wanting to do this for years but was missing the needed framework. The journey of developing this course caused me to have some of the deepest insights I’ve ever had about facilitation. It allowed me to quickly determine what we as facilitators are really trying to do with any group situation and how to work with that situation. Then in 2009,  I met Lilian Wang of RFOUR Limited who came to Vancouver, Canada from Hong Kong during a certification event. I was so impressed with Lilian and others she introduced me to, that I chose to go to IAF for the last four years in Melborne, Tokyo, Singapore and India. Taiwan 2016 comes next!  I also started a facilitation diversity cohort in 2009 which included two APAC women who have become some of my dearest friends.  And, I continue to have many more fantastic friends and colleagues who are based in Asia.

And look what other fun and meaning I’ve had… 20 years in business in two different countries; offering workshops all over the world, trained or certified thousands of really great people in facilitation skills globally, amazing connections to other global facilitation friends, many cool jobs and a deepened creative and spiritual practice.  Much of this is due to learning P.A.T.H. and applying other creative planning processes.

What is involved?

PATH-oathIn the video I also show you how to draw out all the steps.  This will give you a good idea of what is involved. If you have already been trained, it can serve as a reminder of how to do it. Note, you are bound morally by the original authors’ guidelines to only do a PATH for someone else if you have had your own P.A.T.H. done.  Please honor this guideline. Since so few people in the world are able to offer this service, we wanted to make it more accessible. It is a fantastic gift to have this done and then pass it on.  (Note many of the IAF Hong Kong early members were trained by me and have had their P.A.T.H. done so you could also ask one of them).

Here is also an informative link to the process by some people who do the PATH near Vancouver, British Columbia – try contacting David and Faye from Community Works if this is better for you. http://www.communityworks.info/articles/path.htm

Why does the P.A.T.H. process work so well?

The P.A.T.H. process works well when done with others – ideally with people who know and care about you but also with new colleagues who are interested in making meaning in the world.  It works because it taps into some of the best techniques of visualization, it uses images, your own words and community participation to build depth and ownership. It invites whatever needs to happen for you or the group to unfold.  It works well because you are motivated to seek clarity about what your life has in store for you – what your deepest unconscious mind knows about you but cannot quite access without a little help.

Our offer to you

Why not have the sheer joy of doing for yourself so you are crystal clear on how you want your life to unfold in the next few years? You will have clear concrete steps and supports articulated to ensure it happens.  All in 3 hours!  Then you can offer this gift to friends, family, colleagues and groups. A side bonus is building your graphic and visioning skills.

How:

We’ll do this virtually by Skype or Adobe Connect – whichever works better for you.  We can offer a phone line connection if needed for audio also. If you only have audio available, we will make that work too by sending you photos in advance of how to do each step. Here are our requests, offerings, times and costs:

Can you:

  • Choose a time where you can give your full attention to the process?
  • Make sure it is quiet where you are?
  • Make sure you have a good internet connection where you have good audio and good ability to speak?
  • Bring some colored pens or markers and a large sheet of paper to the session?

What you get:

  • Pre-work instructions to help you get the best out of the session
  • 2.5 hour planning session with 1-3 other people (10 minute break at half way point) (value – $500)
  • 30 minutes of coaching in drawing simple graphics (bonus – offered 30 minutes before session starts) (value – $100)
  • A 3-5 year plan with words and images for your life and work (which you will easily create yourself) with clear 12-18 month goals and  specific steps for the next 1-4 months (value –  very high!)
  • Colorful PDF handout with step by step instructions to be able to offer this session to others after your own PATH is done (value – $100- $1000’s if you offer this to others for a cost).

When:

We will schedule a one-on-one virtual session that fits your schedule and mine.

Note: Graphic coaching session starts 30 minutes before each planning session.  This is optional but will greatly enhance the beauty of your PATH. We can also send you written tips of doing graphics if you cannot join early.
